About the event
The movements are functional movements that most everyone is capable of doing (Even if you are limited to just thinking about the movement). Hanna Somatic Educators are taught pandiculation in clinical Somatics and use the technique in private sessions as assisted pandiculation. When learning the somatic movements you are learning to self-pandiculate. By learning these movements you are learning to do what all vertebrate animals already do: Pandiculate. We humans are the only ones that have to relearn what all cats and dogs do naturally. Pandiculation is a conscious contradiction of a muscle (or group of muscles) and then a conscious release. By so doing, we get the muscles to relax and lengthen to their fullest length by using the conscious brain to release the muscles without stretching and bring them back under our control rather than being stuck in a reflexive pattern or confining unconscious holding pattern. In Hanna Somatics, we refer to the latter as SMA (Sensory Motor Amnesia).
