LOVINGKINDNESS

I’ve been keeping LOVINGKINDNESS as my ongoing intention for the past several weeks and working to be that in everything I do, say and think. I do face challenges remembering that is my intention when I watch or listen to the news and feel frustrations and limitations in my daily life. Often, it seems more possible to feel overwhelmed rather than lovingkindness.

AND then, to help me find my Truth, I meet with my prayer partner and am reminded that through the Love and Law of the Divine, all things are possible for our Highest and Best. I can also sit quietly outside observing the birds at the feeders in my yard. As I feel the warmth of the sun and watch the puffy clouds playing against the bright blue sky, I feel the freedom of peace flowing through me as me and, from this space, I can claim I am lovingkindness.

AND, in my humanity, when I again(!) need to be reminded of my intention, I can journal, meditate and/or read meaningful materials. In my reading this morning, I found that June 12th is “Loving Day”. This day commemorates the landmark 1967 U.S. Supreme Court decision, Loving v. Virginia, which struck down laws banning interracial marriage in the United States. The case centered on Mildred Jeter, a Black and Native American woman, and Richard Loving, a white man, who married in Washington, D.C. to avoid Virginia’s anti-miscegenation laws. This case is a powerful demonstration of love, of Divine Love.

So, I am claiming LovingKindness, not only as a day for myself and all of those who desire to celebrate that intention with me, but for every day. We have countless opportunities to be that; in the grocery store by appreciating the produce person arranging product so we have good choices, at the doctor’s office by greeting the receptionist with a smile and kind words; in traffic by staying in our lane and sending lovingkind words of safety to all; with our young children by allowing lovingkindness to be who we are when addressing their big feelings; when sharing ideas with our fellow beings and recognizing we all see things from our own unique perspectives; by simply listening with open hearts and open minds;….

One of the tools I use for remembering my intentions is to post inspirational words and quotations. Here are some I want to share with you.

"Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope." - Maya Angelou

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” – Rumi

“When we recognize the Divine Presence everywhere, then we know that It responds to us and that there is a Law of Good, a Law of Love, forever giving of Itself to us.” – Ernest Holmes

AND, it is important that you know you can always contact one of CSLP’s licensed practitioners to work with you in lovingkindness, in knowing your Truth.
