Tech booth volunteers needed for Sunday Service

Hi everybody!

We’re looking for three focused, reliable, tech-savvy volunteers to take turns running the tech booth on Sunday mornings.  Do you know a bored teenager who wants to get some tech experience?  Do you have a spouse who likes the talks but gets fidgety without something to do? Tech volunteers run the show from behind the scenes, controlling lights, sound, and the slides, along with the camera, recording, and live-stream.  Once we’re fully staffed and everyone is trained, we’ll each work one Sunday a month.

Email Clay at clay@cslprescott.org or call or text him at (928) 420-9950 if you’re interested!

Training:

No prior experience is necessary—we’ll train you on all of our systems and procedures; however, tech volunteers should be fairly comfortable with computers, understand basic concepts of video and sound, be cool under pressure, and be able to adapt on the fly.  When you express interest, We’ll set up a time to talk, show you around, and start getting you familiar with the tech booth.  After that, I’ll ask you to commit to four Sundays for training.  Ideally, you’ll train four Sundays in a row, but depending on how many people are training and your availability, they might be spaced out a little.

  • Sunday #1: Slides, lights, camera.

  • Sunday #2: OBS and sound.

  • Sunday #3: You’ll run the show with help from me (as needed).

  • Sunday #4: You’ll run the show with moral support from me.

Once you’re all trained up, we’ll get you on the calendar for whichever Sundays you want to work—generally once a month.

Responsibilities:

  • Volunteers arrive at 9am on Sunday to get everything set up and powered on, help the speaker put on their microphone, and run sound checks for the musicians.

  • During service, they follow the flow of the show to advance slides, change scenes on the livestream, switch between lighting presets, and make sure everything sounds good.

  • Afterward, they ensure everything is powered down and put away, generally finishing by noon.

Perks:

  • Volunteering looks great on resumes and college applications.

  • You get experience with OBS, an industry-standard, open-source live-streaming software.

  • You get to learn exciting stuff about live sound.

  • You get the opportunity to work occasional paid gigs at the center, including weddings, celebrations of life, and concerts.

  • You get to meet and work with awesome local musicians.

  • You get the warm, fuzzy feeling that comes from helping out a great organization that helps people find their spiritual path.

  • You get the additional warm, fuzzy feeling of knowing Clay gets to sleep in on a Sunday once-in-a-while.Hi everybody!
